New Snap Frame

Hello fellow stitchers. Today I’ll be writing about my new snap frame.

I’ve been wanting to try out a snap frame for a while now, but haven’t been able to find any in stores. I try to buy from a shop rather than online where I can. I got lucky today. Found a lovely cross stitching shop and they have almost everything a stitcher could want, and what they don’t have they’re happy to order in for you.

So today, the main reason I wanted to go to this shop was because I needed more Kreinik thread to finish off a special project (featured in a previous post, ‘Rose Fairy’). While I was in the shop, I saw that they stocked Q Snap frames. There was a 6 x 6 inch Q Snap branded frame, and a 11 x 11 inch Birch Creative branded one. The Q Snap, though smaller, cost more than the Birch frame, and I was told by the store owner that both frames are made in the same factory, so I decided to get the Birch one, not only because it was cheaper, but because it was bigger. An early birthday present for myself.

After unwrapping it I decided to lay out all the pieces and take a closer look at how it all works.

There are a lot of pieces in there. The instructions are fairly easy to follow as well, which is always a good thing.

I decided to try out my new snap frame out on a project that’s not currently attached to a scroll frame. This project is called The Magical Unicorn, by the amazing Joan Elliott.

Here you can see the front and the back. I love the snap frame! It holds the fabric perfectly. Amazing tension is achieved, and it doesn’t slip. I don’t think that the snap frame will leave any marks like a hoop does, but we’ll have to wait and see.

As you can also see, I haven’t made a lot of progress on this project so far. I do love the pink aida I chose. One day I’ll get around to trying to dye my own fabric, but for now I’m happy with plain aida.

Happy Stitching!
